I had a crush on him in second grade at Larkspur. Just a sweet, smart, athletic, unassuming guy. He wasn't supposed to live that long, let alone through his high school years. He was a regular attendee of the "mudding" sessions we conducted in the back of the then-undeveloped areas of the Camino Real subdivision(? - I believe that's what it was called). <BR/><BR/>More than once, I saw him in compromising vehicular positions involving mud, but with that same confident, hip-deep in trouble attitude as you described.<BR/><BR/>(For the uninformed, "Mudding" is defined as otherwise illegal trespassing activity involving the willful destruction of motor vehicles, paid for by our parents, by subjecting them to hostile off-road conditions). <BR/><BR/>Although I transferred to WCHS our junior year, and didn't know him for as long as most of you did, I always thought he was a good guy and he kept me laughing in class. He was one of the funniest people I have ever known. He was also a talented pilot.<BR/><BR/>His two favorite bands were Devo and Judas Priest. How far apart can you get with musical styles?<BR/><BR/>We used to spend weekends on his sailboat on Canyon Lake raising total hell and trying to coax members of the fairer sex to participate in our debaucherous piracy.<BR/><BR/>I remember going to spring break one year in his truck with Scott Menezes and Bryan Burns and when we got to the beach he wanted to drive his truck over some dunes. After some questionable tire spinning we asked him if he thought it was such a good idea. He said, "Don't worry, we can't get stuck. We're in a truck." Two minutes later we are giving a six pack to a guy in a jacked up CJ7 to pull us out of the sand. Nancy was a very sweet girl and never passed judgement on anyone. Robert, Nancy had ovarian cancer, but she lived life to the fullest till the end from what I learned at her service.<BR/>Jason Hidy, it was always Hidy (Jason), Hime (Fern), and Hill (Lori) from Eisenhower on in to Churchill in homeroom. He was a great friend, very quiet, but we had been friends since 6th grade. He left behind a wife and like 6-7 young children.
